TOHOKU SMILE ACTION: Rakuten Eagles’ Initiative to Bring Smiles to Children in Tohoku
Rakuten Eagles’ ambassador Ginji and academy coaches will hold “baseball classes” at venues in the six Tohoku prefectures to provide technical instruction to elementary school students belonging to baseball teams in each prefecture.
What is “TOHOKU SMILE ACTION”?
Starting with the 2024 season, which marks the 20th anniversary of the team’s founding, the team will launch “TOHOKU SMILE ACTION” as part of the “Tohoku Rokken Activities,” which aim to contribute to the promotion of sports, including baseball, and the development of young people, as well as the revitalization of communities throughout Tohoku.
With the slogan “Make children smile with the power of sports!”, the team will work to bring smiles to the faces of children in Tohoku through school visits, participation in festivals, and the “Rokken Thanksgiving Festival” held during the off-season. In the 2024 season, players will also be active as ”Team Rokken.” With the players who are the leaders of each prefecture at the center, the academy coaches and team staff will work together to liven up activities throughout Tohoku.
