I bought the extreme model OMEN 45L (with Core i9-12900K + RTX 3090) around May and have been using it with the standard 32GB memory for almost half a year. I wasn’t particularly dissatisfied, but somehow I bought “KF437C19BB1AK2/32” with the feeling that I should add more memory.

Purchased Kingston FURY KF437C19BB1AK2/32 series

I thought it was the same as the Kingston FURY series with DDR4-3733 and 16GB x 2, which was originally used. Even on the Amazon sales page, there was a reviewer who wrote that it was “the same as the actual product”, so I totally believed it.

It looks just like the original memory

But when I inserted it into the slot, the notation was different, so I had a slightly unpleasant feeling…

When I actually move it, the memory speed decreases.

Memory transfer speed is 3200MHz with 32GB before expansion

Memory speed is 2400MHz with 64GB after expansion

When I checked the memory specs, the module densities were different. I goofed…….

The 3DMark Time Spy score has dropped slightly, probably because the memory speed has dropped. It’s 0.6%, so it’s like an error, but…

In the PCMark 10 test, scores have improved in general and business tasks. However, in the content creation test, the score dropped by 0.4%. It seems like a mistake, but since 3DMark is also down, the slowdown in memory speed is probably affecting the graphics performance.

Although the overall performance has improved, it is surprising that graphics performance, which is the most important factor in gaming computers, has decreased. Or rather, I can’t find a 3733MHz 16bit 16GB module anywhere, but does it exist in the first place?
