Thiruvananthapuram – Cooperative Minister VN Vasavan has asked for an urgent report on the suicide incident of Kollam Sooranadu student following the confiscation process. The minister said that action would be taken if the officers acted against government policy. Local people accused the bank of cruelty. Abhirami’s father lost his job abroad and returned home. Local residents said the family was in great financial trouble.

Abhirami (20) died on Tuesday evening at South Aji Bhawan, Kollam. Abhirami saw the seizure notice when he came home from college and asked his father to hide the notice. He hanged himself after this. The incident happened when the parents went to the bank to inquire about the closure.

The bank officers came and posted the notice when the parents were not at home. The action was taken after Kerala Bank’s Pataram branch loan defaulted. Abhirami’s grandparents were the only ones present when the bank officials arrived. Abhirami is a second year graduate student of Chengannur Iramallikara Sri Ayyappa College.
