New Delhi: Subramanian Swamy, Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi are prominent figures outside the BJP National Executive Committee. Their names were not included in the new committee announced on Thursday. All three have been criticized by dissidents within the BJP.

Subramanian Swamy, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, has changed his bio on Twitter after being removed from the executive committee. He had removed the term ‘BJP National Executive Committee member’ from his Twitter profile. With this, Subramanian Swamy’s Twitter profile does not have any status associated with the BJP. Varun Gandhi is another leader who has been left out of the executive committee, which has provoked strong reactions, including the Lakhimpur Kheri attack. The BJP has also removed mother Maneka Gandhi from the executive committee. It is learned that references to the farmers’ agitation prompted the BJP to take stern action against them.
