— New York West Texas Intermediate Crude (WTI) ended positive on Nov 18 as investors took the plunge after the oil futures fell to a six-week low intraday. After news that the United States urged China to drain its oil reserves to curb the surge in world oil prices.

The WTI crude oil contract was delivered in December. It was up 65 cents, or 0.8%, at $79.01 a barrel.

— The US dollar weakened against the major currencies. In trading on the New York Stock Exchange overnight (Nov. 18) investors took profits after the dollar index hit a 16-month high as the pound continued to gain momentum on expectations. that The Bank of England (BoE) may raise interest rates at its December meeting. After inflation hit the highest level in 10 years.

The dollar index, which measures the dollar’s movements against six major currencies in a basket of currencies, fell 0.30% to 95.5414 overnight.
