Summer heat intensified; The dust storm is strong

Doha: Summer heat has begun in the country. The dust storm is strong. The northwesterly winds have been strong since Friday, with scorching heat. Authorities have warned that strong winds will continue until the middle of the week.

Visibility was reduced most of the time yesterday due to heavy dust storms in various parts of the country, especially in the open. The daytime temperature crossed 40 degrees. The temperature in Mesid was recorded at 49 degrees Celsius on Friday.

This is the highest temperature of the day. The temperature in Doha was 48 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 34 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department is reminding people on social media about the things to look out for when going out as the heat and wind get stronger.

Parents should avoid leaving their children alone in the car as the heat is intense. Those who go out are advised to wear light colored clothes. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration of the body. Outside workers should take breaks from work. The authorities also reminded that the rest should be in the shade.

The face, nose and mouth should be rinsed with clean water as soon as you leave and return as the dust storm is heavy. In case of discomfort, avoid rubbing the eyes and rinse immediately with lukewarm water. The instructions also say that wearing a face mask can prevent dust and dirt from entering the lungs.

With the enactment of the afternoon rest law for workers, workers are getting great relief from the extreme heat. The noon break law was enacted to ban outdoor work from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm to avoid health problems caused by direct exposure to sunlight.
