‘Super Blood Moon’ The total lunar eclipse shakes everywhere… Next is November 8 – Reporter Kim Myung-soo

According to Newsis, an unusual celestial phenomenon, a ‘super blood moon’, has been observed around the world.

A ‘super blood moon’ occurs when two phenomena overlap: a total lunar eclipse in which the moon is completely obscured by the earth’s shadow when the earth is positioned in a straight line between the sun and the moon, and the moon passes the closest orbit to the earth.

During a total lunar eclipse, while the moon is obscured by the Earth’s shadow, the blue and green colors are scattered due to dust in the surrounding atmosphere, and the orange and red colors become vivid, making the moon appear red.

On the 16th (local time), astronomers and astronomical photographers reported in foreign media such as CNN and around the world took pictures of the moon, which looked red like Mars because of this phenomenon.

Total lunar eclipses have been observed in much of Africa, South and North America.

A lunar eclipse can be seen twice a year, and the next total lunar eclipse is scheduled for November 8. It is found in Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean and North America.

A total lunar eclipse will not be visible until March 2025.

A ‘supermoon’ is a phenomenon in which a full moon appears 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual when the moon is closest to the Earth.

On the other hand, ‘blue moon’ refers to the second full moon when the full moon occurs twice in a month based on the Gregorian calendar. The phase change period of the moon is 29.5 days, and this phenomenon occurred while using the solar power.

A partial solar eclipse is expected to be visible around the world on October 25th. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes in front of the sun and blocks part of the sun. When observing a solar eclipse, you must wear observation glasses to protect your eyes.
