Incheon City decided to convert more than 200 city buses to hydrogen buses this year. The budget for converting 119 units has already been reflected in this year’s budget.

It plans to convert a total of 700 buses to hydrogen buses by 2024.

Incheon City signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Environment in March last year to create a city that leads hydrogen public transport, and decided to convert 2,000 city buses to hydrogen buses by 2030.

This year, Incheon City’s hydrogen bus conversion plan is the largest in the country, and Incheon City plans to seriously expand the supply of hydrogen buses based on a liquefied hydrogen production station and the world’s largest charging station that is set to be operating in the region.

In Incheon, four hydrogen wide area buses (multi-decker buses) have been in operation for the first time in the country since last month.

In addition, seven hydrogen charging stations are in operation, including five that can charge commercial vehicles such as buses, and another seven are under construction. Among the charging stations under construction, four are capable of charging commercial vehicles, and three in particular are liquefied hydrogen charging stations with high efficiency and safety.

After signing the agreement, Incheon City plans to hold the ‘Incheon Liquefied Hydrogen Discussion’ to share the government’s policy direction for the spread of hydrogen transportation (mobility) and actual cases of the introduction of hydrogen buses by transportation operators.

Geum Han-seung, head of the Climate and Carbon Policy Office at the Ministry of the Environment, said, “I hope that Incheon City’s large-scale hydrogen bus conversion will spread throughout the country and become a force for the spread of hydrogen mobility.” We will continue to provide policy support.”
