Suzhou International Business School Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Alumni Reunion
The Suzhou International Business School (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) recently held a grand reunion for its alumni, marking the school’s 10th anniversary. The event, attended by alumni, academic staff, and over 300 industry leaders, celebrated the remarkable achievements of Suzhou International Business School. Notably, the school has emerged as the largest English-taught business school in China. Furthermore, it has garnered the prestigious “Triple Crown” accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA, a recognition received by only 1% of business schools worldwide.
During the event, an awards ceremony took place, honoring three exceptional former students who have made significant contributions to the world of business, society, and education:
- Boyue Xing, an entrepreneur and investor from Shanxi Province, was recognized as the IBSS Outstanding Alumni 2023 for her stellar leadership role and accomplishments in the business world. She completed her Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management at IBSS in 2018.
- Sirena Bai, a trailblazer in the field of human resources, received the IBSS Alumni Award with Outstanding Contributions. A graduate of the Business Administration Alumni Master’s Degree International Program in 2021, Bai played a vital role in fostering collaboration between IBSS and AstraZeneca.
- Lenda Huo, an alumni of the Master of Business Administration International Program in 2018, was honored with the 2018 IMBA Outstanding Ambassador Award. Huo’s exceptional mentoring of IMBA students and unwavering support for the program’s recruitment efforts made her the perfect recipient for this recognition.
In addition to the awards ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to participate in engaging discussions led by a panel of esteemed business and academic experts. Topics such as digital transformation in businesses, promoting gender diversity in corporate boards and leadership teams, the impact of Generation Z in the workplace, and strategies for thriving in the global economy were explored.
The event also featured executives and industry leaders discussing the latest trends in finance, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, healthcare, sustainability, and cross-industry exchange.
Alumni who attended the reunion shared how their education at IBSS has positively influenced their career journeys. Kirsten Johnston, an alumna of the Master of Business Administration International Program in 2019, founded the branding agency JWDK, which originated in London before expanding to Shanghai and Hong Kong. She emphasized the value of the insights provided by the school, stating, “As a foreigner, it was crucial for me to gain deeper knowledge about business in China and understand the cultural differences compared to how business is conducted in the UK.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Sing, recipient of the IBSS Alumni of the Year award, emphasized the significant lessons he learned from the entrepreneurship course at IBSS. He stated, “We have discovered the importance of social responsibility as entrepreneurs and the need to consider how our businesses can contribute beyond financial gains.” Sing further highlighted the essentiality of possessing an entrepreneurial spirit when running a business and how investing in social good can lead to unexpected benefits for companies.

Alumni, academic staff and more than 300 industry leaders gathered to celebrate the success of Suzhou International Business School. One notable achievement is becoming the largest English-taught business school in China. It has also achieved the “Triple Crown” accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA), with only 1% of business schools in the world receiving this Triple Crown accreditation.

Mr revealed Sing, who won the IBSS Alumni of the Year award, said the entrepreneurship course taught him valuable lessons.
Mr said. Sing, “We have learned that entrepreneurs like us should have social responsibility. And we should consider how our business can contribute beyond profit.”
