Copenhagen: The achievement of becoming the first woman Prime Minister of Sweden is only a matter of moments. Magdalena Anderson, 54, who was approved by the Swedish parliament as prime minister, resigned within hours. The resignation was prompted by the defeat of the Finance Bill and the withdrawal of support from the Green Party, which had earlier formed an alliance. Magdalena, the finance minister, was elected leader of the ruling Social Democratic Party following the resignation of Prime Minister Stephen Lofven.
Magdalena, a former swimmer, entered politics in 1996. He started as an advisor to the then Prime Minister Goran Person. He has been the Finance Minister for the last seven years.
