T1 Kumayushi “Concentration in adverse conditions…so that the body remembers”

In the PO Spring Split 2023 LCK round 2 held at Jonggak Lol Park on the 25th, T1 won 3:2 and advanced to the top round after a great match against kt Rolster. In the middle of winning and losing each other, the last 5 sets were also very unfavorable from the beginning, but T1 did not give up until the end, concentrating and succeeding.

Below is the full text of the interview with T1 ‘Kumayushi’ Min-hyeong.

Q. Firstly, congratulations on your win. What is your overall opinion of today’s game?

I came to the stadium comfortably. I expected an easy win, but it was a bit harder than I thought, and I need to prepare better for the next game.

Q. What do you feel is the biggest difference between the kt Rolster you met in the regular season and the kt Rolster today?

Overall movement has definitely improved, and I felt like I was good at team fighting. I definitely felt stronger, and I wondered how other teams would have been different.

Q. The bottom pressure was incredible today. In particular, in the first and second set, you had a complete advantage from the start. Were you confident in creating such a composition?

At the time of the first set, it went according to our choice and design. In the second set, he noticed if the opponent was nervous or made a mistake, and it led to a good atmosphere. Originally, it’s an advantageous composition, but I think it’s about 9:1 if you look at the pure 2:2 line fight as an early advantage.

Q. The 2nd set, it was a match that was quite advantageous, but when you were chasing the opponent, you went in a bit forcefully and gave him a chance. What if we look back on the situation?

I think I did well when I first crossed the wall in a team fight. There was also a call saying it was over because Kassadin was level 18, but now that I think about it, I was a little excited.

C. The last 5 sets were a clash where the outcome was not known until the end. She was that fierce, what do you think was the secret to winning in such a conflict?

The opponent is a combination that is advantageous in the early stages, and we are a combination that can create teamfights and variables, so I think we made good use of the combination.

Q. All of you were selected for the LCK First Team, and you are overcoming a crisis like today. This is the best situation, but it seems that T1 is gradually developing. I’ve been working with my teammates for a long time, and I’m curious about where the players really feel they’re becoming a better team.

I think it’s hard to keep climbing constantly. It doesn’t feel much better than last year, but I think it’s important to keep doing that and get even better.

Q. A lot of players and coaching staff talk a lot about focus. In particular, it is one of the most important factors when participating in a multi-site tournament Do you have any special training or knowledge for this?

I usually play 3 scrimmages and rest, and it’s rare that I spend all po5, so concentration becomes more important. To that end, I practice daily, and instead of training to show focus even when I’m tired, I train to get used to being able to focus even when I’m tired.

Q. Finally, say something to your fans.

There are things that kt Rolster did well, but there are many things that we did not do well. In the next game, I think if I don’t perform well, I might lose. I will make up for it well and focus on winning.
