T20 World Cup | England team announced; Stokes and Archers have no place

England squad for T20 World Cup announced In addition to star all-rounder Ben Stokes, England have announced their 15-man squad for the World Cup. Stokes is retiring from cricket indefinitely to focus on mental health. Earlier, England coach Chris Silverwood had made it clear that the player would not be forced back.

In addition to Stokes, the notable absence from the squad for the World Cup is Joffre Archer and England Test team captain Joe Root. Injury prevented Archer from joining the team. Root, meanwhile, had earlier announced his desire to return to T20 cricket but was not considered by the selectors for the World Cup squad. But pacer Tim Mills, who has been out of the team for a long time, has been included in the World Cup squad. Timel Mills was recalled to the team for his excellent performances in the Vitality T20 Blast and Hundred. Owen Morgan is England’s captain at the World Cup in the UAE.

In the UAE, David Malone and Jason Roy are likely to open the innings for England. In addition to these, Jose Butler and Johnny Bairstow can also be considered for the opening, but Morgan will consider Malan and Roy as well. Morgan is expected to take on the role of butler finisher.

The performances of Moin Ali and Adil Rashid will be crucial on the UAE pitches where spinners are supported.
