Director Kim Jin-young, who was leading the Uzbekistan Taekwondo national team, was killed by an acquaintance of Korean nationality on the spot.
On the 18th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “On the 15th, two Korean citizens living in Tashkent were injured, and one Korean national died at a local hospital on the 16th.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not disclose the identity of the deceased or the perpetrators.
Next, KBS reported that director Kim was stabbed by a knife wielded by a senior he worked with, and was taken to the hospital for surgery, but died the next day.
On the day of the incident, it was reported that the suspect and senior Mr. Kim was staying at the home of director Kim. However, as the argument between the two escalated, it was reported that they wielded a weapon.
After the crime, Kim fled to a nearby area, but was arrested by the local police.
Meanwhile, after Kim took office, the Uzbekistan Taekwondo national team secured four qualifications for the Olympics for the first time.
Director Kim’s mortuary was set up at the local Taekwondo Hall.
