Taiwan Earthquake Center “Aftershocks greater than 5 on the Richter scale continue to shake Taiwan for three more days.”

Aftershocks are still rocking Taiwan after a powerful earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale on Sunday killed one person and injured 146.


The Taiwan Earthquake Monitoring Center said Monday morning that a 5.9 Richter aftershock occurred in Hualien County. It was the 74th aftershock and the fifth aftershock with a magnitude greater than 5 on the Richter scale.

“Aftershocks with a magnitude greater than 5 on the Richter scale will shake southeast Taiwan in the next three days,” the head of the Taiwan Earthquake Monitoring Center said on Monday (September 19).
