Over the past year, Taiwan has expressed frustration with the Chinese military invading its airspace near the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) over southwest Taiwan’s waters. Taiwan calls such action by China as “Battle of Gray Areas”, which aims to weaken Taiwan’s military by sending planes to follow including testing Taiwan’s countermeasures as well.
Xinhua news agency reported that China’s latest air operations include 34 fighter jets, four electronic warfare aircraft and a bomber, which flew into the northeastern coast of the Pratas archipelago.
On the other hand, Taiwan has sent fighter planes to splice Chinese planes out. and use a missile system to track the movement of these planes
China has yet to comment on the issue, but in the past it has often claimed it is an exercise in defense of national sovereignty.
It is unclear what led China to launch such a massive military operation. But the report said China’s move came at the same time the US and Japanese navies were conducting military exercises in the Philippine Sea. which covers the territorial waters of Taiwan as well
