Team departure Cho Song-hwa disciplinary card ‘voluntary termination’ brakes

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism “Announced IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, violates regulations” Violation of protection of rights and interests of players

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that the voluntary termination of the women’s professional volleyball team IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, Jo Song-hwa (28), could not be taken.

On the 23rd, a person in charge of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, “IBK Industrial Bank of Korea announced on the 22nd that it would voluntarily terminate the songhwa. This is a measure that goes against the rules and cannot be done in principle. The club will have to find other methods of disciplinary action.” The official said, “I explained the purpose and procedure of the voluntary termination to the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO).”

In a statement on the 22nd, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea said, “In accordance with the voluntary cancellation regulations of the Korea Professional Volleyball Federation (KOVO), regarding Cho Song-hwa who left the team without permission, we have decided to voluntarily terminate it.” announced.

IBK Industrial Bank of Korea announced that it had decided to voluntarily terminate it according to the regulations, but the measures are far from the regulations.

In June, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism revised the rules regarding voluntary termination, introducing a standard contract to protect the rights and interests of players. At that time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism changed the related regulations to require that a voluntary application in writing by an athlete be preceded for voluntary termination.

KOVO also accepted the recommendation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and revised the relevant regulations (Article 52) in September. It is a device that cannot be used as a tool for disciplinary action by players.

However, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea did not follow this regulation and unilaterally announced the decision to voluntarily terminate the shipment.

KOVO plans to reject IBK Industrial Bank’s application for voluntary termination in accordance with regulations.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism drew a line, saying, “Athletes must apply in writing with their free will to be arbitrarily terminated.”

In the end, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea was faced with a situation where it had to discipline Cho Song-hwa by asking for responsibility through legal procedures such as compensation for damages.
