Actress Chae Rim mentioned her ex-husband Gao Ziqi. Recalling the time when he told his son about his father’s existence, Chae-rim burst into tears.
In the comprehensive programming channel JTBC’s ‘Brave Solo Parenting – I Raise’ (hereinafter ‘I Raise’), which was aired on the 29th, Chae Rim recalled the time when Chae Rim explained the father’s existence to her son.
On this day, Chae Rim was asked, “Does the child know of his father?”, “Minwoo brought out an explanation of his father when he turned three years old. Minwoo didn’t say it out loud, but his gaze was like ‘Why isn’t there a father in my house?’ I always felt it at the end.”
Chae Rim married Chinese actress Gao Ziqi in 2014 and had a son in her arms in 2017. After announcing the divorce in 2020, Chae Rim is raising her son alone.
Chae-rim said, “When I go out with Min-woo, Min-woo stares intently at the children with his father. He can’t speak.”
Then, “So I said, ‘Minwoo, do you want to see your father?’ Then the first time I asked him, he said ‘No.’ So when he said, ‘Minwoo doesn’t have a father. He has a father,’ and the child’s expression changed. He said, ‘Do I have a father?'” and burst into tears.
Chaerim said that there was no such thing as ‘dad’ in the memory of his son Minwoo. He said, “I explained to my son, ‘Min-woo’s dad. You can’t come to see me right now’ and showed me the picture. He kept looking at me without saying a word. Then he said, ‘Dad?’ So I said, ‘Yes, it’s Dad’.”
He continued, “After that, I didn’t pay close attention to my dad and his family. One day, when a friend of Min-woo asked, ‘Where is Min-woo’s dad?’, he replied, ‘My dad is in China, so he can’t come.’ So he said, ‘I’m glad. It was nice to talk to you back then. Because of that, I thought, ‘I can deal with it like this’.”
Chae-rim said, “There are days when I purposely bring up my father’s story. After I talk about my father, Min-woo hugs me and says, ‘Thank you, Mom'”, wiping her tears and smiling.
