Tesla Model Y prices have been significantly decreased, starting at 1,699,000 baht, signaling a thriving electric car market in the present time. However, concerns arise regarding the upcoming launch of an all-electric Honda at the end of the year.
Tesla has announced price reductions for all three Tesla Model Y models available in Thailand. The price adjustments are as follows:
– Standard Range Model: The rear-wheel drive variant’s price has been reduced to 1,699,000 baht from the original 1,959,000 baht.
– Long Range Model: The four-wheel drive variant’s price has been lowered to 1,999,000 baht from the initial 2,259,000 baht.
– Performance Model: The four-wheel drive performance model is now priced at 2,299,000 baht, down from the original 2,509,000 baht.
While the design and exterior equipment remain unchanged, customers can still choose from five body colors: black (standard), white, silver, blue (additional 50,000 baht), and red (additional 80,000 baht). The Tesla Model Y includes standard equipment such as a glass roof and 19-inch alloy wheels known as Gemini. Customers also have the option to switch to 20-inch Induction wheels at an extra cost of 80,000 baht.
In terms of the interior, the standard decoration is an all-black theme. However, customers can opt for a black and white interior for an additional 50,000 baht. The Model Y offers a two-row, five-seat arrangement with electrically adjustable front seats. The second row of seats can be split into three sections and folded flat to create more storage space, with a maximum capacity of 2,158 liters. The central multifunction screen remains at 15 inches and includes a smartphone charger. A 13-speaker sound system, including a subwoofer and speaker drive amp, is also included.
The performance of the Tesla Model Y varies across the different sub-models. The Standard Range model, with rear-wheel drive, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, has a top speed of 217 km/h, and can run up to 455 km/charge according to WLTP test standards. The Long Range model, with four-wheel drive, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5 seconds, has a top speed of 217 km/h, and offers a range of up to 533 km/charge according to WLTP test standards. The performance model, with four-wheel drive, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, has a top speed of 250 km/h, and can cover a range of up to 514 km/charge based on WLTP testing standards.
Furthermore, the Tesla Model Y comes with a standard Autopilot driving assistance system, assisting the vehicle in entering curves, accelerating, and braking automatically in response to other vehicles and pedestrians. However, for those seeking additional features, Tesla offers an Advanced Autopilot package for 122,000 baht and a Full Self-Driving package for 244,000 baht.
The premium Model Y, equipped with all available options, is priced at approximately 2,673,000 baht, which is considerably lower than European electric cars. Nevertheless, it is crucial to consider the potential impact on Japanese electric cars, such as the Nissan Leaf, as well as the upcoming electric SUV from Honda, scheduled for later this year.
