August 17 – 26, 2023: Rayong Province Stadium to Hold the Tournament

The Asian Under-23 Football Championship, also known as the AFF 2023 Under 23 Championship, is set to take place in Thailand from August 17 to 26. The tournament will be hosted at the Rayong Province Stadium. Ten teams will participate in this prestigious soccer event, divided into three groups. Group A consists of four teams including the Thailand national under-23 team, Cambodia, Brunei, and Myanmar. Group B and C have three teams each. The competition will see only one group winner and the best team from the three groups that have come second make it to the semi-finals.

The Thailand national under-23 team, led by head coach Issara Sritaro, is on a mission to conquer the Asian Under-23 Football Championship. Following their success in the recent SEA Games where they finished second to Cambodia, the team aims to achieve victory. In the ASEAN Football Championship, known as AFF Suzuki Cup 2022, they secured the runner-up spot with Indonesia emerging as the champions. In their last competition, held in Cambodia in February 2022, the Thai national team suffered a narrow 0-1 loss to Vietnam, securing the second spot. Timor Leste and Laos finished third and fourth, respectively.

Issara Sritaro, the head coach of Thailand’s national under-23 team, expressed his determination by saying, “The Thai national under-23 team has previously faced Myanmar in the SEA Games. We are ready for the first game and will give our best effort to achieve the desired outcome.”
