Xinhua News Agency, Xi’an, October 29. The 11th Paralympic Games of the People’s Republic of China and the 8th Special Olympics closed in Xi’an on the evening of the 29th. At 8 pm, the closing ceremony of the Games was held in the Xi’an Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium. State Councilor and Director of the Disability Working Committee of the State Council Wang Yong announced that the 11th Paralympic Games of the People’s Republic of China and the 8th Special Olympics Games have closed. At the closing ceremony, Zhou Changkui, Chairman of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, Liu Guoyong, Deputy Director of the State Sports General Administration, and Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, respectively delivered speeches. Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee Secretary Liu Guozhong and Governor Zhao Yide attended the closing ceremony.
The current National Paralympic Games and Special Olympics opened in Xi’an on October 22. 4,484 disabled athletes from all over the country competed in 43 major events and 47 sub-items, demonstrating surpassing themselves and daring to compete. The Paralympic Games exceeded 36 world records and set 179 national records, achieving both sports performance and spiritual civilization.
The next National Paralympic Games and Special Olympics will be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau in 2025. The flag handover ceremony was held at the closing ceremony.
