The 30th anniversary of the defense against the aggressors was marked today in the settlement of heroes – Sokolje, by laying flowers and paying tribute.
Delegations, family members of the dead, surviving comrades-in-arms and citizens gathered in this heroic settlement to honor the martyrs and fallen soldiers of the RBiH Army and remember the battles that were fought in this area thirty years ago, announced the KS Press Service.
Among those who laid flowers today and paid tribute to the fallen defenders of this settlement was the Minister of Veteran Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, who in his speech pointed out that we owe our sons immense thanks for everything they have done for us.
– The courage shown by the defenders of this settlement in those days, in order to defend the city of Sarajevo, is proof of a great sacrifice for which we are all immensely grateful. I would like to use today’s opportunity to invite everyone to be united in conveying the truth and cultivating a culture of memory about the past of our homeland. Our associations, which remember the most important dates and our heroes, must not succumb to the pressures of the political elite, nor be influenced by them, because only in this way can we be dignified in front of the greatest sons of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We collectively owe our martyrs and fallen comrades a dignified memory, worthy of their sacrifice – said Osmanović.
During today’s commemoration of this anniversary, a history lesson was held, where those present had the opportunity to evoke memories of the fallen defenders of this settlement, especially those who laid down their lives on this day to defend this heroic settlement.
The organizer of today’s commemoration was the Association “Our Heroes”, which advocates for the preservation of the tradition and culture of the memory of the resistance movement and the patriotic forces that defended the sovereignty, integrity and independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
