The 5th wave of the epidemic | 6 types of affected premises are willing to immediately implement vaccine bubbles in exchange for an early resumption of business

Six types of premises, including beauty massage baths, hope to return to business as soon as possible in exchange for “vaccine bubbles”.

[Sing Tao Daily Report]The fifth wave of the epidemic broke out in Hong Kong. The government extended social distancing measures, and many premises were required to close. The 6 types of premises affected by the suspension of business issued a joint statement, urging the authorities to “target the epidemic” and avoid a “one-size-fits-all” approach to dealing with business closures.

Industry representatives participating in the joint statement include beauty, massage, bathroom, mahjong, sorority and family entertainment centers. A number of industries expressed their willingness to immediately implement a “vaccine bubble” in exchange for an early resumption of business and work, and also requested the government to directly subsidize employee salaries and rent subsidies according to the situation of the premises.

Yang Huijun, chairman of the Beauty and Hairdressing Industry Training Advisory Committee of the Education Bureau’s Qualifications Framework, said that the industry has taken a number of epidemic prevention measures, including the use of appointment-based and one-to-one services. She said that many practitioners in the industry are self-employed, and when the premises are closed, they will lose their source of income, but the government has not provided any subsidies.

Tang Kwok-lun, director-general of the Hong Kong Family Entertainment Center Chamber of Commerce, pointed out that the authorities did not measure the amount of subsidies based on the operation of the industry and the size of the business premises. He described the government’s subsidies as a drop in the bucket. time.

Kao Jianluan, chairman of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Mahjong Chamber of Commerce, pointed out that the subsidies from the Anti-epidemic Fund are not enough to help practitioners and operators cope with family and business pressures.

In addition, Yu Jingxun, director-general of the massage parlor association, said that the current anti-epidemic fund is not enough to take care of the affected people, and he hopes the government will pay rent for the industry and pay salaries for employees.

Wu Siren, chairman of the Hong Kong Friendship Chamber of Commerce, said that there has been no confirmed diagnosis in the industry since the previous year. All employees of the Friendship Chamber of Commerce in the industry have also been vaccinated, and members are all real-name systems. Each room is independent, and will be thoroughly disinfected before the next batch of guests. To use, he suggested referring to the supervision form of catering establishments, and only the establishments with confirmed cases need to be temporarily closed.
