Secretary Kim Dong-jo 12.4 billion ‘the biggest’

The average wealth of the presidential staff appointed in June was found to be 3.83 billion won. Half of the staff were found to own or live in the 3rd district of Gangnam, Seoul.

According to the disclosure of the wealth of high-ranking public officials published in the Official Gazette by the Ethics Committee of Government Officials on the 23rd, the average wealth of 16 secretary-level assistants and above worked in the presidential office of the Yun Seok. -yeol government was 3.83 billion won. Kim Dong-jo, secretary for speech recording, had the most wealth among the staff of the presidential office. Secretary Kim said he won 12.4 billion.

Among Secretary Kim’s wealth, the proportion of stocks was high. He holds 32,400 shares of Hankuk Holdings, 7,400 shares of Hankuk Steel, and 6,600 shares of Hankuk Steel International, which are unlisted stocks. The total assets of the stock alone are 11.66 billion won. Secretary Kim is known as the nephew of Hankuk Steel’s owning family.

Jang Seong-min, director of policy coordination planning at the Office of the President (currently the Office of Future Strategic Planning), was reported to own 3.95 billion won, including Banpo Apartments in Seocho-gu, and Seong-kyung Jo , secretary of science and technology, has 3.57 billion won, respectively. Wang Yun-jong, secretary of economic security at the National Security Bureau, said 7.32 billion had been won, of which 4 billion had been won in deposits. Im Sang-beom, secretary for security strategy under the first deputy head of the National Security Bureau, reported 4.62 billion won, and Lee Moon-hee, assistant foreign affairs secretary, reported 3.72 billion won.

Eight out of 16 presidential aides were found to own a house in Gangnam 3 gu in Seoul or live in Gangnam 3 gu as a charter. There were also four staff members who owned apartments in Mapo, Yongsan, and Seongdong-gu, the so-called ‘Mayongseong’.

The assets of those who worked with President Yoon and the prosecutors were also revealed. Bok Doo-gyu, a personnel planning officer who worked as the secretary general of the Supreme Prosecutors Office, came to the office of the presidential secretary, and re-registered his fortune of 1.74 billion won. Financial Supervisory Service Commissioner Lee Bok-hyeon reported that properties worth 1.87 billion were won, including an apartment in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu. Cho Sang-joon, head of the National Intelligence Service’s Planning and Coordination Office, registered properties of 2.38 billion won, including an apartment in Seocho-dong.

Among the high-ranking public officials (appointed in June) published in the Official Gazette this time, the person who reported the most wealth is Prime Minister Park Seong-geun, Chief of Staff. The Head of Park Staff said that a fortune of 22.93 billion had been won. Park owns 10.3 billion worth of won stocks, including his 6,000 shares of Samsung Electronics and his wife’s stake in Seohee Construction (1.77 million shares). Park’s wife is Lee Eun-hee, the executive director of Seohee Construction, and the eldest daughter of Lee Bong-gwan, the largest shareholder of Seohee Construction.

The target audience for this disclosure is high-ranking public officials of level 1 or above in June this year. 801 people who changed their status, including 26 new appointees, 43 people who were promoted, and 720 people who retired, were subject to asset disclosure.
