Kochi: The government rejected the petition on appointment of Technical University VC. The High Court has rejected the government’s application to cancel the appointment of Sisa Thomas.

The court also ordered the government to find and appoint a permanent VC immediately. The proposal states that a permanent Vice-Chancellor should be appointed within three months.

The action of the High Court is to find that Sisa Thomas is eligible to continue as interim VC. The court has noted that Sisa Thomas has 10 years of teaching experience which is the UGC standard.

The court has said that the government, the chancellor and the UGC should take steps in the interest of the students.

The court said it would appoint its representative to the UGC search committee within two weeks and asked the chancellor and the government to appoint representatives in the same way. The court also rejected the government’s claim that the chancellor was not acting in accordance with the rules.
