West Virginia delegate told Friday's reporter that he thinks "LGBTQ is a modern version of Ku Klux Klan."
Del. Eric Porterfield reported to Charleston Gazette-Mail when they called to discuss a story regarding earlier controversial comments. The Republic of Mercer told the reporter that "the gay community is a terrorist group," said he received threats and social media messages following the earlier comments in the Wednesday committee meeting.
Porterfield was speaking in support of an amendment that would add to local orders protected by LGBTQ people from discrimination. The amendment failed.
"The LGBT is the most socialist group in this country," he said at the meeting. "They do not care gay. Many guys are persecuted if they do not meet their social ideology."
Dean De. Danielle Walker, a black bean with a gay son, challenged on Wednesday Porterfield in a committee and again on Thursday on the floor of the house.
The Monongalia Democracy said to the paper on Friday, "Why do we need more grain? Why do we need more calls for a name? Why do we have to refer to other groups that show harassment and destruction and so many grains? that's that? "
Republicans also criticized Porterfield's views. Del said. Daniel Linville, R-Cabell, with the paper, "It's wrong, wrong. There's only an excuse for some of the things he said."
In the release of news, the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Belinda Biafore, asked for the retirement of Porterfield.
Porterfield told the paper that the controversy would cause the possibility of re-election.
Porterfield did not respond immediately from The Associated Press on Saturday.
