The European Union reaffirms its attachment to Burkina Faso

(Ouagadougou, Wednesday January 25, 2023) HE Mrs. Olivia ROUAMBA received on the evening of January 24, 2023, the Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation in Burkina Faso.

HE Mr. Wolfram VETTER came to reaffirm the availability of his institution to support Burkina Faso. He suggested that the EU is useful for Burkina Faso in its areas of intervention such as humanitarian, security and defense, development through its projects and integrated approaches.

Addressing the issue of the fight against terrorism, the European diplomat indicated that the EU respects the choices made by the Burkinabè authorities to overcome insecurity. “We favor dialogue between the EU and the Burkinabe government in the search for solutions to get the country out of this difficult situation,” he said.

While welcoming the actions already taken by the EU in favor of the people of Burkina Faso, the head of Burkinabe diplomacy made a point of assuring her guest that the current Transition is still in keeping with the logic of continuing collaboration with Brussels. “Any partner in good faith is always welcome in Burkina Faso,” she noted.

HE Mrs. Olivia ROUAMBA also hoped that the Political Dialogue between Burkina Faso and the EU could be held as soon as possible in Ouagadougou. This consultation framework supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs will make it possible to address priority issues and address the concerns of both parties.
