It is the result of Nintendo’s extensive knowledge and experience gained over the past 30 years in developing various game consoles.

The ancestor of the Switch can be traced back to Nintendo’s first cartridge replaceable handheld game console, the ‘Game Boy.’ It was first released in Japan on April 21, 1989, and introduced as ‘Minicomboy’ in the domestic market through Hyundai Electronics on May 2, 1991. Some people may remember it as ‘Minicomboy.’

Nintendo’s domination in the gaming market is so strong that it is often compared to Apple’s dominance in the smartphone industry. The success of the Game Boy can be attributed to the strong management knowledge of Nintendo.
