Abu Dhabi: UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan chose the design of the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. Brahmaviharidas Swami, the manager of the temple, disclosed this matter. Two plans were prepared for the temple. Sheikh Muhammad is said to have chosen the best among them. This was announced at the memorial service of Pramakh Swami Maharaj, the late spiritual leader of Baps Swaminarayan Sanstha.
In August 2015, the UAE government allocated land to build a temple in Abu Dhabi. 13.5 acres of land was handed over for the construction of the temple. An additional 13.5 acres of land was later set aside for parking facilities. The then Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and current President Sheikh Mohammed handed over the land to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who visited the UAE.
In 2018, BAPS representatives along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sheikh Mohammed at the Presidential Palace and showed him two plans of the temple. Sheikh Muhammad chose the best design from this.
