The Forecasting Committee holds its first annual session of the year 2023

The first session of the Food and Nutritional Situation Forecasting Committee (CPSA) for the year 2023 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources opened on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in Ouagadougou. For two days, participants will analyze the current food and nutritional situation, and formulate recommendations for decision-makers. The minister in charge of agriculture was represented by the governor of the center region, Abdoulaye Bassinga.

The food and nutritional situation forecasting committee was set up as part of monitoring food and nutritional security. The objective of the first session of the year 2023 is to evaluate and validate in a participatory manner the country’s food prospects on the basis of the final data.

The participants

Participants are expected during this session to validate the different food security aggregates, analyze the current food and nutrition situation and prospects, analyze the situation of humanitarian disasters, determine vulnerable areas and populations to food insecurity and formulate recommendations for decision makers.

It is expected from the CPSA a report on the food and nutritional situation during the current period (March-April-May) and projected (June-July-August), together with operational recommendations.

Representing the minister in charge of agriculture, the governor of the center region Abdoulaye Bassinga declared that ” the success of this session will allow the government and its technical and financial partners to have reliable and consensual information on the food and nutritional prospects of our country.

This is why the results will be presented to the Council of Ministers for adoption and will be used to make appropriate decisions with a view to anticipating any difficulties that vulnerable populations may experience during the current and projected period. ».
