Foreign Minister Park Jin, US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln, and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi discussed ways to work together on North Korea’s seventh nuclear test during a three-way meeting between foreign ministers on the same day.

The Korea-US-Japan foreign ministers’ meeting was held in Bali, Indonesia, where the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting was held in July, about two months after the meeting.

During the meeting, which lasted about an hour, the ministers of South Korea, the United States and Japan agreed to further strengthen trilateral cooperation on pending issues such as North Korea’s nuclear program.

After the meeting, Minister Park met with reporters and introduced, “We talked about the need for close coordination between South Korea, the United States and Japan and preparations for a decisive response to the threat of North Korea’s use of nuclear weapons.”

When asked if there had been any evaluation of the Korea-Japan summit the day before, Minister Park replied, “There is an evaluation that it was very meaningful in many ways and that it was a good opportunity to improve the relationship between Korea and Japan. “

Meanwhile, in his comments on the same day, Secretary Blincoln noted that South Korea, the United States and Japan have been cooperating on a bilateral basis, but recently, trilateral cooperation has been intensifying.

He also emphasized the need for trilateral cooperation not only on regional security issues but also on global as well as regional security issues.

“From the point of view of the United States, the cooperation of the three countries is very important,” said Blincoln.
