Cochin | The High Court directed the petitioner, the government and the Devaswom Board to examine and state what is halal. The court said the matter would be examined in detail. The court asked the petitioner what is meant by halal and what is the meaning of halal jaggery in Sabarimala. The petitioners’ reply was that the matter had not been examined in depth. Sabarimala Karmasamithi General Convener SJR Kumar has filed a petition seeking an injunction against the use of halal jaggery.

Justice Anil K Narendran and Justice PG Ajithkumar said that these issues should be raised with clear evidence. The court said that when such allegations were made, an in-depth examination of the matter was required. The petitioner initially explained that halal food was part of a community ritual.
