The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (FDA), which has more than 600 domestic science and technology institutions and academic societies, suffered hacking damage. The home page and business system were paralyzed, but internal data leaks were prevented.

The KOFST announced on the 5th that it had recovered the main system on the 3rd after more than a week of work after the hacking damage occurred on the 22nd of last month. Systems such as the KOFST homepage, office computers installed in the KOFST building, and external webmail services suffered from hacking.

An official from the KOFST said, “It took time to recover because the server is getting old.”

After acknowledging the fact of the hacking, KOFST reported it to organizations such as the Korean Internet and Security Agency and the National Intelligence Service. Currently, an investigation is underway as to who is the main culprit of the hacking. With this hacking opportunity, security checks are carried out on servers and PCs.
