Kim Hyung-rok (50 years, 31st class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), who has led the investigation into various allegations by the Ssangbang-Bul group, is sent as a legal assistant to the Audit and Inspection Board.

The sending of inspectors to the Audit and Inspection Board, which had been suspended since 2020, resumed after two years.

On the 23rd, the Ministry of Justice ordered Deputy Prosecutor Kim to send to the Audit and Inspection Board.

Deputy Director Kim will start working in the Audit and Inspection Board from the 26th.

Deputy Director Kim graduated from Busan Geumjeong High School and Seoul National University with a degree in economics and passed the bar exam.

After that, he served as the deputy chief of the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office, the second chief of financial investigations of the South Seoul District Prosecutor’s Office, the chief of the special division of the Incheon District Prosecutor’s Office, and the chief of the anti-corruption investigation division of the Gwangju District Prosecutor’s Office.

The Supreme Prosecutor’s Office plans to send Kim Young-il (50th, 31st training institute), head of the Pyeongtaek Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office, as a temporary deputy to the vacant position of 2nd Deputy Prosecutor of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office because of sending Deputy Chief Kim.

At the same time, Jo Joo-yeon (50th, 33rd training institute), International Cooperation Office of the Chief Prosecutor, will also be sent to the Suwon District Prosecutors Office to support the investigation of the Ssangbangol Group.

The Ministry of Justice explained, “There was a request to send a legal adviser from the Audit and Inspection Board as a background for the sudden dispatch, which happened after two months of personnel management.”

The Audit and Inspection Board is currently conducting audits of major government agencies, examining problems with various projects under the Moon Jae-in administration.

In the legal circle, there is a comment that this appointment will boost the Ssang Bulle group investigation of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office.

His successor, Kim Young-il, head of the Pyeongtaek Branch, also specializes in special investigations, and is known within the prosecution as a ‘bulldozer’ style.
