The most watched cyber sport disciplines

Mobile gaming has continued to grow in popularity and penetrate into the eSports industry. In turn, desktop disciplines have also been on the move and actively attracted a new audience to bet on Fortnite, for example. Today Esports Charts will tell you how the viewing figures of eSports disciplines changed over the last year.

PUBG Mobile

It is one of the first mobile games to be competed in by gamers. The Krafton and Tencent project dropped one place in the rankings compared to 2020, despite increasing its viewing figures to 216.1 million hours.

PUBG Mobile’s increase in viewership is largely due to its huge number of regional tournaments. The events have steadily gained hundreds of thousands of viewers in many Southeast Asian and Latin American countries. More than a million viewers at the peak have been gathered:

● PMPL 3 2021 Southeast Asia Finals;

● PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2021.

Dota 2

Valve’s MOBA was remembered for a record-breaking $40+ million prize pool, which the world’s top teams played out at The International 10.

TI10 matches generated 107.2 million hours of viewing – almost a third of Dota 2’s total viewing time for the year.Other popular tournaments for the 2021 season were WePlay AniMajor and ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021, which drew a peak of 645,000 and 598,000 viewers respectively.

However, despite the overall increase in viewership figures, Dota 2 has, for the first time, failed to make it into the top three most-watched eSports disciplines. This is largely due to the weakening influence COVID-19 on the world, as a result of which Valve still decided to hold the first The International in two years.

League of Legends League of Legends has been the most watched game for making a live eSports bet now. Following the general trend of growth in eSports, LoL tournament viewing figures have risen by almost 13% (664 million hours) compared to 2020.

A record 4 million viewers for League of Legends at its peak were gathered for the Worlds 2021 Grand Final broadcast. According to this indicator the championship was also in the top 2 cybersport events in history, second only to Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore (5.4 million viewers in the peak).

The other international championship, the Mid-Season Invitational 2021, was held for the first time since the pandemic began and drew 1.84 million viewers at its peak. Most of LoL’s 2021 audience was made up of viewers from regional leagues in Europe and South Korea.

For example, LCK Summer 2021 peaked online at 1.3 million, with just over 800,000 viewers gathered at the peak:

● LEC Summer 2021;

● LCK Spring 2021;

● LEC Spring 2021.

Game ranking

The shooter Valorant lagged behind PUBG Mobile by just a few million viewing hours. It was followed by:

● Free Fire;

● CS:GO;

● Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Less than 100 million viewing hours collected:

● Arena of Valor;

● Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Sie
