The Municipality of Burgas has started the construction of a new marina in the Ugla area in the Sarafovo district

Burgas Municipality continues to care for the local fishing community. After the three marinas were successfully built, the construction of a new one began in the Ugla area, Sarafovo district. It will provide the possibility of seasonal shelter for small fishing boats, and the capacity of the facility is for 20 vessels with a length of 6.5 m. At the start of the construction activities, the project manager – Deputy Mayor Eng. Chanka Koralska was present, who discussed with the contractors of the site for the upcoming activities along the coastline. The marina will be equipped with a vertical pier on two levels. A facility is also provided for the launching of vessels, their removal to land and storage, as well as carrying out repair work with trailers. In the mooring areas of the boats, columns for power supply and water supply are provided for the needs of the fishermen. An anchor system will also be installed. The implementation of the project will improve the safety and working conditions of fishermen in the area, especially those from small-scale coastal fishing. The facility will also fulfill an ecological role by keeping the coastline in good condition. The main goal of the project is to improve the conditions for the development of fisheries, to promote social inclusion and employment in fisheries-dependent communities on the territory of the Burgas municipality. Among the specific goals set for the construction of the new marina are the creation of conditions for the development of non-industrial and small-scale fishing in the region, preservation of local fishing and fish farming traditions, improvement of safety and conditions for carrying out fishing activities, support of the local fishing community through the construction of suitable infrastructure for its activity. The new marina is implemented under Project No. BG14MFOP001-1.019-0003 “Construction of a protected marina, located southeast of UPI I, quarter 30 (PI with identifier 07079.20.470) according to the plan of the town of Ugla, land in Sarafovo quarter , the city of Burgas within the borders of the PI with identifier 07079.1.1474 according to the CC of the city of Burgas and in its adjacent water area of ​​the Black Sea” The project is financed under the Program for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries 2014 – 2020, supported by EMDR, procedure no. BG14MFOP001-1.019 “Fishing Ports, Landing Piers, Fish Exchanges and Marinas”. It has a total value of BGN 1,299,462.35, of which BGN 799,952.05 is a grant. The deadline for the implementation of the activities is 30.11.2023.
