The National Defense Commission’s so-called ‘Act on Exceptions to BTS’ Military Service’ is suspended

The legislative discussion on the so-called ‘Act on Exceptions to BTS’ Military Service’, which allows pop culture artists who have won national prestige to substitute for military service through volunteer work instead of enlisting in the military, has been put on hold.

The National Assembly’s National Defense Committee held a subcommittee on the bill yesterday (25th) and deliberated on the amendment to the Military Service Act, but could not come to a conclusion.

An official from the National Defense Commission explained, “Regardless of the ruling and opposition parties, there was disagreement among lawmakers on the bill.

The National Defense Commission has not set a specific method or schedule for the subsequent public discussion process.
