At today’s National Intelligence Service audit, questions focused on the Audit and Inspection Board’s announcement regarding the shooting of a public official in the West Sea.

The NIS said it could not reveal the details as it was under investigation, but said it did not know if there were any Chinese fishing boats in the surrounding waters at the time, and that there was an announcement from the Audit and Inspection Board that the NIS was getting information sooner than the Joint Chiefs of Staff is also a mistake.

Reporter Kim Min-chan reports.

On the 14th, the Audit and Inspection Board revealed in a press release related to the shooting of a public official in the West Sea that only Chinese ships were in the surrounding waters until the late Lee Dae-June disappeared after being found , and that there was a circumstance that Lee was transferred to some vessel.

As a result, speculation has been raised that Mr Lee may have been transferred to a Chinese fishing boat.

Kim Kyu-hyun, the director of the National Intelligence Service, is said to have said in an undisclosed national inspection today that he did not know of the existence of Chinese fishing boats.

“The National Intelligence Service could not determine whether there were any Chinese fishing boats around at the time, and replied that they did not know…”

In addition, the Audit and Inspection Board said that the NIS had an overwhelming situation Mr. Lee before the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but the NIS corrected that this was not the case either.

“It is not true that the NIS also received and confirmed the JCS information, and that it was noted 51 minutes before the JCS, so I know there is a small error in the Audit and Inspection Board…”

At that time, it was also reported that the NIS had identified information related to North Korea through OS and military special information.

“The National Intelligence Service replied that it grasped the main information about the attack of a civilian in the West Sea through SI intelligence. It also said that the word North Korea was included.”

However, the NIS said it could not answer why it changed the ruling on the possible defect to North Korea at the time and who analyzed it, as it was an investigation under investigation.

The National Intelligence Service also said that the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is being communicated to relevant ministries in a timely manner before passing the US Congress.

However, he did not reveal the specific time period, whether before or after the draft of the bill was published.
