The investigation into the whereabouts of a family in a Gwangju elementary school who lost contact after leaving for experiential learning has been ongoing for the fifth day.
Police have issued a missing person alert for the family’s residence in Gwangju and Wando, where the last location has been confirmed, and are receiving reports of eyewitnesses.
According to the Gwangju Nambu Police Station on the 26th, the parents of Jo Yuna (10), who lived in Nam-gu, Gwangju, applied to the school to leave the school for experiential learning with their family from the 19th of last month to the 15th of this month.
It is known that the school has revealed its destination to Jeju Island.
Students who have left the off-campus experiential learning period are acknowledged for their attendance even if they do not attend school, but Chaoyang did not attend school even after the 16th day after the experiential learning period ended.
The school reported the disappearance to the police on the 22nd as they could not contact Chaoyang’s parents on an ongoing basis.
The police set out to find the whereabouts of the Chaoyang family through tracking the location of the family’s cell phone and analyzing CCTV.
As a result of the investigation, it was found that the Choyang family had stayed at a pension near Myeongsasimni, Sinji-myeon, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do since the 24th of last month.
It was a pension with a swimming pool, but it is said that most of the family stayed in the room.
The last trace of the family was witnessed at this pension on the 30th of last month at 11 pm.
A child presumed to be Chaoyang leaving the pension on her mother’s back was captured on CCTV.
Two hours later (around 1 am on the 31st), Joyang and his mother’s cell phones were turned off near the pension.
At around 4 am, three hours later, at Songgok Wharf, which is a 7-minute drive away, Chaoyang’s father’s cell phone was also turned off.
Since then, the police have not been able to find any clues to trace the family’s whereabouts.
There was no trace of a visit to Jeju Island, which was revealed as the destination, and it was investigated that he did not participate in the experience of living in a rural area in Wando for a month.
Accordingly, the police are receiving reports by disclosing Chaoyang’s real name and photo, the vehicle model (silver Audi A6) and vehicle number (03 8447) of the family used by the family to residents of Gwangju and Wando, the last destination.
It is reported that no reports have been received so far.
Police remain open to all possibilities, including a car crash.
