(Seoul = Yonhap News) Correspondent Boram Oh = The anti-corruption and public crimes unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 24th that it has concluded that Eunpyeong-gu Commissioner Kim Mi-kyung, who was accused of violating the Election Official Public Act, innocent.

Earlier this year, Mayor Kim was suspected of sending 200 boxes of apples to public officials and local residents in Eunpyeong-gu through secretary A’s office worker before the Lunar New Year.

The police carried out an investigation by seizing and searching the district head’s office and the secretary’s office in June this year, and the people involved paid for the apology over two days in September.

On the 17th of this month, after confirming that Mr A had sent a box of apologies at the time and even sent a text message to the recipients, he was arrested and handed over to the prosecution.

However, the police closed the case due to insufficient evidence as they could not find any circumstances where Mayor Kim ordered or intervened.

It is said that Mr. A retired after related doubts arose.
