The possibility of announcing a contract with Red Bull/AlphaTauri and De Vries on the Japanese F1 GP weekend[F1-Gate.com]

Red Bull is said to be likely to announce Nick de Vries’ racing deal with Scuderia AlphaTauri for 2023 this week when the Japanese F1 Grand Prix takes place, with Pierre Gasly set to race for Alpine F1. It will pave the way for and transfer to the team.

After a fast F1 debut with Williams at the Italian Grand Prix of Monza last month and a great top 10 performance, Nick de Vries met in Austria with Red Bull F1 motorsport advisor Helmut Marko. We talked about a racing contract with AlphaTauri.

Last weekend in Singapore, French broadcaster Canal+ reported that the two parties had reached an agreement, with a formal announcement scheduled for the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix weekend at Suzuka Circuit.

Speaking to Austria’s ORF, Helmut Marko did not confirm much, but said he expects a deal to be announced in the coming days.

“There are talks,” said Helmut Marko.

“And hopefully by the end of next week we will have a clear position. I think it will be decided by Suzuka. Then we can say what we will do.”

Red Bull F1 team boss Christian Horner has been more assertive, insisting that Gasly will remain under contract with Red Bull until the end of 2023.

“Pierre Gasly has a contract with Red Bull Racing and that hasn’t changed,” said Horner.

“Everyone thinks he’s gone. But he’s still under contract with us and assigned to AlphaTauri. As long as that doesn’t change, nothing to say about a possible successor. Hani

The Japanese Grand Prix weekend could be a big weekend for Red Bull, with key driver announcements from AlphaTauri and another chance for Max Verstappen to win the 2022 title.

A win and fastest lap at the Japanese F1 Grand Prix would give Max Verstappen the F1 world championship for the second consecutive year, regardless of where his rivals finish. A crown in Japan would also do much to please his home race Honda.
