In a meeting with visiting countries, special envoy Koo presented a letter in the name of President Yoon Seok-yeol, explaining the Korean government’s foreign policy vision of becoming a ‘global central nation’, and President Yoon’s intention to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperative relations with countries in the Caribbean region

The corresponding countries expressed appreciation for the invitation to the 2023 Korea-Caribbean High Level Forum and agreed on the direction of Korea’s policy to promote cooperative relations between the two countries. During the visit of the special delegation, the Korea International Trade Association decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, and the St Kitts and Nevis Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry to seek economic cooperation and expand business exchange.

Special envoy Koo presented the ‘Busan Initiative’, a country-specific development cooperation project, as a practical plan together with a vision for overcoming crises common to mankind, such as climate change, digital divide, and economic inequality, and asked for support to host the Busan World Expo.

The corresponding countries expressed sympathy with the theme of the Busan Expo and announced that they would seriously consider Korea’s request for support.

Along with this, the special envoys decided to introduce various cooperation programs such as official development assistance (ODA), climate change, response to natural disasters, digital divide, agriculture and fisheries, and education, and seek specific ways to expand cooperation.
