The Ministry of Public Administration and Security activated the first stage of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (middle script) from 11 am today (23rd) and started emergency work. The response level is divided into three levels.
From the afternoon, heavy rain of more than 30 mm per hour was predicted, centered on Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Seoul, and Incheon, and the crisis warning level was raised from ‘attention’ to ‘caution’. Crisis alerts are divided into four levels: attention-caution-vigilance-severe.
This morning, President Yoon Seok-yeol urged people to inspect vulnerable areas and facilities to prevent damage from heavy rain.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security announced that it has instructed the pre-inspection of areas vulnerable to landslides, low-lying areas along rivers and coasts, and campsites. He also urged the prompt maintenance of road drainage ditches and small river sediments.
In addition, he said that local governments were conducting emergency work, and each city and province created a group communication room to share situation information.
