The referee who sent off Son Heung-min from the EPL… Korea-Ghana match referee

Anthony Taylor, the referee for the game between Korea and Ghana. random newsThe referee for the Group H second leg between Korea and Ghana in the Qatar 2022 World Cup group stage has been decided. He is the referee who gave a red card to Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur).

On the 28th (local time), Korea will play the second match of group H against Ghana at the Education City Stadium in Alayan, Qatar. Korea drew 0-0 with Uruguay in the first game. On the other hand, Ghana lost to Portugal 2-3. This is the second match that Korea and Ghana must hold in order to progress to the round of 16.

According to the list of referees released by FIFA, the referee for the second match is Anthony Taylor (England).

Taylor has been playing in the English Premier League since 2010. Since 2013, he has also worked as an international referee and has blown the whistle at the European Championships (Euro).

He has a bad relationship with Son Heung-min.

In December 2019, Tottenham and Chelsea red carded Son Heung-min in the 18th round of the Premier League in the 2019-2020 season. At the time, Son Heung-min raised his feet while lying down during the competition with Antonio Rudiger (now Real Madrid). Taylor ordered Son Heung-min to leave. Son Heung-min was suspended for three games, and Tottenham’s appeal was also dismissed.

In the game between Tottenham and Chelsea in August this year, the managers of both teams were given red cards. Tottenham coach Antonio Conte and Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel clashed again after the game, and Taylor red carded both coaches. Coach Tuchel also expressed displeasure, saying, “I hope Taylor doesn’t referee for Chelsea.”

As a representative midfielder in the Premier League, there were also scenes that stood out. He was praised for his quick response to the cardiac arrest of Christian Eriksen (Manchester United) in the Euro 2020 match Denmark-Finland in June last year.

Meanwhile, along with referee Taylor, Gary Bejick and Adam Nunn (above England) assistant referees will start the match between Korea and Ghana. In addition, Kevin Orteca (Peru) was assigned as the reserve referee, and Tomas Kviatkowski (Poland) was appointed as the VAR (video review) referee.
