Thalassery: Two CPM workers were stabbed to death following a dispute involving the drug mafia. One is in hospital. Thalassery Nettur Illikkun Trivarna House K. Khalid (52) and his sister-in-law and CPM Nettur branch member Poovanazhi Shamir (40) died at Trivarna House. His friend Netur Sarasil Shanib (29) was admitted to the Thalassery Cooperative Hospital.

The attack happened near the Co-operative Hospital at around 4pm on Wednesday. Khalid was stabbed to death after being called out of the hospital. Police said a four-member group was behind the attack.

Shamir’s son, Shabeel (20), who was suspected of selling drugs, was beaten by Jackson near Chirakkau on Wednesday afternoon. Knowing that he was admitted to the cooperative hospital, the group called Khalid and others to the road under the pretext of reconciliation.

During the conversation, he cut Khalid’s throat with a knife. Shameer, who tried to stop him, was stabbed on the outside and other parts of his body. Shamir died while being taken to the hospital.

The deceased Khalid is the son of the late couple Muhammad and Nabisa. He is a fisherman. Wife: Seenath. Children: Parveena and Farzeen. Son-in-law: Rameez (Punnol). Siblings: Aslam Gurukal, Sahad, Akbar (both Tyler), Fabita and Shamseena. The body is at the General Hospital Mortuary. Kannur Govt. After the post-mortem at the Medical College Hospital, he will be cremated at the Amukappally Graveyard on Thursday.

The deceased Shameer is the son of the late couple Hamza and Ayesha. He is a fruit loading worker near the old Thalassery bus stand. Wife: Shamsina. Children: Muhammad Shabil, Fatimatul Hiba Shahal. Siblings: Naushad, Razia and Hayrunnisa.
