The New York Times (NYT) and BBC Broadcasting reported on the 4th (local time) that Ukrainian forces are occupying small towns in Kherson one after another and expanding the recaptured area.
On the same day, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense released a video showing the 35th Marine Brigade raising the Ukrainian flag over a communications tower in David Ubrid, Kherson Province.
In the video, the Marines shouted “Glory to Ukraine, Glory to the Marines,” the New York Times reported.
David Ubrid is a strategic location in the region, to the north-east of the city of Kherson, the capital of Kherson Province, the BBC explained.
Similar videos are also spreading on social media, the New York Times added.
Local Ukrainian media Skapravda reported that Ukrainian frontline troops had also recaptured other villages in the south.
The BBC said that Ukrainian forces have been advancing along the west bank of the Dnipro River in the south during the past 48 hours.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a speech to the nation that night that “the army is making a swift and powerful move” and that it “liberated dozens of villages this week alone.”
In his speech, he listed the names of the free settlements: Luvimiuka, Khreshchenivka, Zolotabalka, Blyayuka, Ukraine, Velika Oleksandriuka, Mala Oleksandriuka, etc. “he emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of the Interior of Ukraine, Yevheny Jenin, said that 3,500 people had been restored to freedom in 50 villages in Kherson.
