SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The court psychologist will examine the man who alleged his house on fire and seized a Springfield police officer.
Thirty-nine years of age Ruben Barrero Friday morning in Springfield District Court, where a judge said he will remain in custody pending a danger hearing.
The danger hearing shall not be scheduled until after the Barrero examination with the court psychologist.
Barrero took part in a violent struggle with Springfield Police Officer, Greg Vatrano, on Wednesday night after alleging that he had sent his Vermont street home. During the work, Springfield Active Police Commissioner, Cheryl Clapprood, told 22News that Barrero Vatrano had breached the chest with a kitchen knife. The knife cut through a uniform and the Vatrano vested, but he did not penetrate his skin thanks to the trauma plate located in the protective vest.
