On the 26th, the third day of the general strike of the Public Transport Workers Union of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (Cargo Workers Union), Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong is gradually increasing his comments, saying, “We will come find those who damaged trucks in action and take severe punishment.”

It has not been confirmed whether the person who threw the stone at the removal truck was a member of the cargo union.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said in a press release that day, “According to the police report, there were two accidents in which cargo vehicles operating normally at Busan New Port were damaged by objects believed to be be stoned on two occasions of the year. 7:00am today for about 15 minutes.”

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “It is estimated that this accident was aimed at the driver of the damaged vehicle.” The identity of the culprit has not been identified, and the police are said to be conducting an investigation by collecting data such as the vehicle’s black box.

Minister Won has set up an office in Busan New Port and has been responding on the spot since the start of the strike on the 24th.

Minister Won said, “It is very unfortunate that illegal acts of violence have occurred against truck owners who normally engage in transportation.” He also said he has asked the police to “do a thorough investigation and find the illegal criminals and punish them severely.”
