Raina made this clear in a conversation with Akash Chopra on Viacom 18 Sports
Former India all-rounder Suresh Raina wants Suryakumar Yadav to get a chance in Tests after his good performance in limited overs cricket. Raina is of the opinion that Surya has the talent to shine in the Test as well.
“Depending on Surya’s performance, he should play in all three formats. All three formats would not survive without him. His game is fearless. All the shots come from the field,” Raina said in a chat with Akash Chopra on Viacom 18 Sports.
“He is a Mumbai star. He knows how to play Test cricket. By playing Tests he can become more consistent in ODIs. He can easily score centuries and double centuries,” added Raina.
Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha also echoed Raina’s views.
“He should definitely be in the Test team. All three formats should be included when examining his performance. “Such questions should not even arise,” said Ojha.
But veteran Abhinav Mukund disagreed with both of them. Abhinav said that in-form Sarfaraz Khan should be given a chance.
“Sarfaraz Khan is in great form. He should have at least had a chance in the series against Australia. Suryukumar excels in Twenty20. That is what is expected from Suriya in the Test as well. But I am with Sarfaraz,” he added.
