Police rescue a mentally challenged woman in the middle of a railway track as the train was speeding. The incident took place at 10 am on Saturday at Vasai Road station in Maharashtra. The video of the police rescuing the girl has been widely circulated on social media.
The incident took place when the Dahanu-Andheri local train reached Vasai Road railway station. Naik Eknath, who was on patrol duty, saw the woman on the track and ran to rescue her. Naik was informed about this by some policemen from the railway overbridge. Naik immediately instructed the motorman to stop the train.
He then ran to the scene and carried the young woman to the platform. The woman was identified as Subhadra Shinde, a mentally challenged woman living alone in Vasai area of Palghar. Senior police officials lauded Naik for his courageous work.
