The truth of ‘Son Ji-chang’s 10 billion won jackpot’… “Actually received 2.3 billion won” Why?

Actor Son Ji-chang shared the story behind the ‘Las Vegas 10 billion won jackpot’ that has been talked about for over 20 years.

Son Ji-chang mentioned the Las Vegas jackpot on TV Chosun’s ‘Alumni Journey of Heo Young-man’, which was broadcast on the 17th, saying, “If I still gamble with celebrities, my name will rise.”

Son Ji-chang and Oh Yeon-soo’s family traveled to Las Vegas in June 2000 to commemorate their first son’s birthday. Oh Yeon-soo’s mother played a slot machine game at a casino in Las Vegas and hit a jackpot of about 10 billion won.

Son Ji-chang recalled that time and said, “My mother-in-law put six dollars into the machine. As a result, I won 9.47 million dollars, which was 10 billion won when I calculated the exchange rate.” He explained, “But to get a lump sum payment, I only got 40% of the total, and 30% of it was a foreigner, so I had to pay an advance tax. In fact, I received 2 million dollars (about 2.3 billion won),” he said.

Son Ji-chang said, “Actually, it was a lot of money, but it was not enough to meet the expectations I first felt and these things.”

Heo Young-man said, “(At the time) there was an article that said it was 10 billion won without subtracting this and that. So I thought it would be difficult to see Son Ji-chang in Korea.” Son Ji-chang laughed, saying, “I wanted to do that too, but I couldn’t.”
